SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
8:30am-10:00am - Registration 10:15am - Judging Begins. Egg displays will be closed while judging is completed. 10:45am - Executive Meeting of the Brazos Valley Poultry Club 11:00am - Austin Backyard Poultry Meetup Group 11:15am - Guest Speaker Steve Jones - APA and ABA Judge 12:00pm - Break for refreshments, Raffling, and Egg Displays 12:40pm - Raffle Prize Winners announced 1:00pm - Table of Champions - Top Prize Winners Announced for the First Annual Austin Bluebonnet Egg Show |
EGG SHOW RULES
This is an Open Breed Egg Show. Eggs from all breeds of chickens will be on exhibit, and competing against each other for top honors at the first annual Austin Bluebonnet Egg Show.
Rules:
1. Open to all, youth and adult, in Texas and outside of Texas. Eggs entries must be produced by the exhibitor's chickens.
2. Exhibitor may submit two entries in each of the classes #1 - #6. An entry consists of three eggs. Eggs shall be fresh, shell natural.
3. Exhibitor may submit one entry, a single egg, in classes #7 - 8. Egg shall be fresh, shell natural.
4. Exhibits must be brought to Callahan's General Store between 8:30am and 10:00am on August 13th, 2011. If you need to mail your entry, please contact ranchetta@live.com for mailing instructions. All Class #7-8 entries must be hand delivered by the exhibitor the day of the show.
5. Once entered, all eggs become the property of the Brazos Valley Poultry Club. All of the eggs will be destroyed after judging and the conclusion of the show.
6. Make your entries early. Entries must be received by midnight August 10th, 2011. There is an additional $1.00 processing fee for late entries. We must reserve the right to reject entries received after all available space is taken.
7. Ribbons, trophies, prizes will be awarded Saturday, August 13th, 1:00pm. All entrants are eligible to receive prizes donated by our sponsors. All Brazos Valley Poultry Club members are eligible to receive the club sponsored prizes. To be eligible for all prizes, see below how to join with your entry.

CLASS #1 Bantam White Egg CLASS #2 Bantam Brown Egg CLASS #3 Bantam All Other Color (AOC) Eggs CLASS #4 Standard White Egg CLASS #5 Standard Brown Egg CLASS #6 Standard AOC Eggs CLASS #7 Contents - One Egg Large Fowl CLASS #8 Contents - One Egg Bantam *White Classes include only white eggs. Tinted eggs and cream eggs are exhibited in AOC Class. *Brown Classes include light and dark brown eggs. Tinted and beige eggs are exhibited in the AOC Class. *All Other Color Eggs include blues, greens, olives, plums, beiges, creams, pinks, pastels, and tinted eggs *Contents Class allows any single egg entry. It does not have to be breed specific, and is not being judged on its shell. | Judging:
Judging criteria for Class #1-6 will include Uniformity - 25 points Proper Size/Shape - 20 points Texture - 20 points Color 25 points Cleanliness 10 points ** Hint: Eggs should be uniform in color and size. Judging criteria for Class #7-8 will include Yolk Color a rich golden yellow - 30 points Yolk Shape and Centering - 25 points Clear Albumin with Defined Shape - 25 points Chalazae Cords and Germ Spot Visible - 20 points |
