This Russian cultivar produces the black seed used for making sunflower oil and can grow from 2 to 4 feet high forming small heads full of black seed high in oil content. The seed makes excellent feed for all game birds and poultry. The plants are highly preferred by deer when they are young and still growing . It takes about 110 days for seed to mature from germination.

                            Seeds: $3.50 (approx 25 seeds)
Cut flowers: $1.00 per stalk (SOLD OUT)

                            Squash Blossoms

                            Picture
The flowers from either summer or winter squash are edible and delicious and have a slight flavor of the squash itself. Squash blossoms may be used as a garnish (whole or slivered) for almost everything from soups to main dishes. They also add color and flavor to salads. The most common method of cooking them is stuffing them with soft cheese then frying them in tempura batter. They contain vitamins A and C, as well as iron and calcium.

                            $1.50 each (SOLD OUT)
